Part one of our holidays post highlights Liberia! Across Liberia and Sierra Leone, national holidays are meaningful expressions of each country’s history and heritage.
These observances offer opportunities to reflect on cultural identity, shared values, and hopes for the future. They honor the experiences that have shaped both nations while reinforcing the importance of unity, dignity, service, and community.
These same values are at the heart of AMI’s mission: to accompany rural peoples in the struggle to overcome racial and economic injustice. Through the West Africa Initiative, AMI works alongside local partners and rural communities to advance sustainable agriculture, food security, youth leadership, girls’ education, gender justice, and strong community institutions.
Throughout the year, we are proud to stand with the farmers, women, young people, faith leaders, and local organizations working to build more just, peaceful, and food-secure communities across Liberia and Sierra Leone.
