We are celebrating Women’s Equality Day by highlighting the many faces of the women and girls in Sierra Leone and Liberia. From the little girls who are critical water bearers for their family’s care to the grandmothers who gift us the wisdom they’ve gathered through their lifetimes, we are proud to represent them all at AMI.
Through our West Africa Initiative we have made it a goal to represent women, the (sometimes) quiet backbones and torchbearers of our societies. Our Gender Justice: Girls Scholarship program removes barriers from young girls attending school. Students have pursued medicine or midwifery through our program, knowing they’d be supported. Through this program we are affording the choice of an education for young girls.
