Sama’s Story

My name is Sama Conteh. I am seventeen years old and I live in Kadubaya community in the Bombali district in Sierra Leone. I attended the United Methodist Church Senior Secondary School where I am in grade four i.e. (SSS1) Senior Secondary School 1. I hope to graduate in 2027.

I am the first person in my family to complete high school and it’s my hope and ambition to become a medical Doctor.

My mother is a member of the Kakamathor farmers group of the village-to-Village federation of the west Africa Initiative in Sierra Leone and because of this I have received the assistance to continue my school for the past four years. Without this support for books, supplies, uniform and shoes, I would not be attending school because my mother could not afford the cost to send me to school.

My father died when I was eight (8) years old, leaving my mother as the only supporter of myself and my four younger brothers and sisters. She could not manage this by herself, so I have to help her by selling in the market where she is a petty trader.

If I did not receive the school support, I would have not be attending school. At this present time, I still help my mother in the market at weekends but I also attend school during the week. It is hard but I had to continue to do both these things to help my family and work to achieve my goal to become a doctor.

This School support have given me hope for a better life for my family and myself and I am very thankful for it.

May all those who made this possible be blessed forever.

Sama

Eve’s Story

My name is Eve C. William. I am 18 years old and I live in the Palala community in Bong County, Liberia.  I attend the Yen quoi Bee Junior and Senior high school in Palala town where I am in grade 10th. I hope and pray to graduate from high school in 2027. I am the only girl child born of my mother among five children.

Moreover, I am the first girl ever seen in my family to reach this level of schooling and it is my hope and ambitions to become a professional Mid-Wife as a career to enable me serve my family, my community and the society.

I got to be blessed because my mother is a member of Kerker-Ta farmers group of the West Africa Initiative (WAI) program, and because of this I have received the much needed and appreciated assistance to continue my school for the past three (3) years.

If I had not been blessed with this school support for Books, Supplies, Uniforms and Shoes, I would not have had the opportunity to be in school attending at this present time, because my mother could not afford the cost to send me to school any longer.

Unfortunately, my father got sick, and eventually lost his memory when I was 14years old, leaving my mother as the only person to struggle and provide support for me and the rest of the family.

Glory is to God for the girls’ support program in our local community because if I did not receive the school supports, I would have been a drop out and not attending school any more.

At a result, my hope and dream for future profession would be dead by now. The school support has given me very high hope for a better life for my family and myself and I am very thankful for it.

But I am very much grateful for the many supports given to me over the years to enable me keep in school and focus on my future goal.

Many thanks and appreciations to all those who made this supports possible, I pray for God to continue his blessings upon you people and your family forever.
